Somaliland’s President Meets with Traditional Elders, Intellectuals, and Elders of Awdal Region

Borama (Hornpost) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (“Cirro”), now on the second day of his working visit to the Awdal Region, held an important meeting last night with the region’s traditional leaders, intellectuals, and community elders—including the Cultural leader of Community of Awdal Ugaas of the Gadabuursi, Ugaas Abdirashiid Ugaas Rooble Ugaas Doodi.

This meeting deeply examined critical issues concerning the unity of the people of Somaliland, the strengthening of peace, and collaborative efforts in societal development. The historic and essential role of Awdal’s communities in building the nation and safeguarding Somaliland’s statehood was uncontested.

The President commended the traditional and wise leaders of Awdal for their unwavering support in promoting peace and national unity. In turn, the elders expressed their full support and patriotic solidarity with the government.

The gathering symbolized the noble role cultural leadership plays in nation-building, reinforcing public trust and governance, and encouraging unity among Somaliland’s citizens.

The regional leaders and elders also confirmed that the promises President Cirro made to the Awdal community during his presidential campaign have all been effectively realized.

They emphasized that the President has backed his words with concrete actions, translating every pledge—no matter how ambitious—into tangible, real-world projects.

These leaders highlighted that the fulfillment of these promises is a clear indication of principled and sincere leadership, inspiring the people of Awdal to confidently support the current government.

Finally, the President warmly thanked the traditional elders and community leaders of Awdal, expressing his deep appreciation—especially honored that the Grand Ugaas sat with him that evening.

President Iro spoke of how pleased he is with the trust and support shown by Awdal’s people, stressing the importance of continuing to strengthen unity, peace, and the country’s progress.
