Brussels (Hornpost) A delegation from the House of Representatives of the Republic of Somaliland, currently on a working visit to Brussels, held an important meeting yesterday afternoon with Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) Sebastian Stoteler and Marieke Roos, who represent the Netherlands in the European Parliament.
The discussions focused on ways in which the European Union could support Somaliland’s migration institutions with equipment, data storage systems, and refugee management, given the large number of displaced people residing in Somaliland.
Both sides also held in-depth discussions on youth employment opportunities, with particular emphasis on how EU support in job creation could help reduce irregular migration.
The MEPs, who maintain close ties with the U.S. administration, pledged to work with Somaliland on multiple areas of mutual interest.
The Somaliland parliamentary delegation was composed of:
Hon. Cali Hamud Jibril MP, Deputy Speaker, Hon. Barkhad Jama Batun MP, Hon. Hassan Ahmed Elmi MP, Hon. Hussein Adam Abdi MP
They were accompanied by Ambassador Kaysar Abdillahi Mohamed, Somaliland’s Representative to the European Union.
