
HARGEISA (Dawan) Minister of Interior and Security of republic of Somaliland Abdalle Mohamed Carrab, has called for an urgent national intervention to address the ongoing conflict in the Awdal and Salal regions.
Speaking at a national meeting held at the Presidential Palace, where top government officials discussed strategies to end the violence, Minister Abdale warned that another outbreak of fighting could result in significant casualties. He noted that armed groups in the affected regions are highly prepared, heightening the risk of further destruction.
“Today, what is required of us is a national rescue,” Minister Abdale emphasized, stressing the need for immediate and effective measures to contain the crisis.
Minister of Interior and Security, Abdalle Mohamed Arrab also outlined the government’s commitment to resolving the conflict, highlighting ongoing plans to mediate disputes and restore peace across Awdal and Salal. The administration has pledged to take swift action to prevent the escalation of hostilities and safeguard local communities.
The clashes in Awdal and Salal have disrupted livelihoods and raised concerns about wider regional instability. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and coordinate relief and security responses.
