Hargeisa, (Hornpost) – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), today held an important strategic meeting with senior officers from the United States military responsible for security affairs in East Africa.
The President thanked the officers for their visit to Somaliland and discussed key issues related to strengthening peace and security in the Horn of Africa, as well as enhancing cooperation and partnership between Somaliland and the United States.
He underlined the strategic importance of the Republic of Somaliland in the region and the crucial role it plays in maintaining peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.
The President further emphasized that Somaliland is a reliable partner and a responsible state that has, for more than 30 years, consistently worked towards security, democracy, social development, and peaceful coexistence among the peoples and nations of East Africa.
The President also expressed his gratitude to the U.S. legislative bodies for their continued support of Somaliland’s cause and welcomed the positive shifts recently seen in U.S. foreign policy, particularly regarding Somaliland and Somalia.
For their part, the senior officers of the United States Forces in East Africa commended Somaliland for its stability, peace, and role in safeguarding security both on land and at sea. They pledged to further accelerate bilateral cooperation in the areas of security, training, and technical assistance.
