Kismayo, (Hornpost)— The President of Jubaland region of Somalia, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Islam, today officially opened the Conference on Environment and Climate Change at the Guest House in Kismayo, which was organized by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in Jubaland.
This important conference will discuss how to strengthen environmental protection efforts, raise public awareness, and deal with the growing impact of climate change.
The President pointed out that the environmental problems in Jubaland are based on actions such as:
Illegal settlement
Unlimited cutting of plants
Useless use of coal
Drilling multiple wells in close proximity and making unplanned water bodies
The President specifically directed the Ministry of Environment and Security Agencies to jointly prevent actions that threaten the environment, and prepare a clear plan to manage the utilization of natural resources, to reduce the risks caused by climate change.
