
Dawan Newspaper, Partners Discuss Archive Digitization in Hargeisa.
HARGEISA, Somaliland (Horn post) The chairman of Dawan Newspaper, Khadar Abdi Hassan, on Monday received a high-level delegation from DT Global and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation at the paper’s headquarters in Hargeisa.
The meeting, attended by the Ministry of Information’s planning director Jamac Awil Nuh and Dawan’s deputy chairman Abdiqadir Dacar, focused on strengthening cooperation and digitizing Dawan’s archives to preserve and modernize its historical records.
Khadar briefed the delegation and led a tour of the newspaper departments, showcasing its extensive archive dating back to 1998, described as a valuable national media heritage.
Digitization of the archive is expected to enhance data preservation, mitigate risks of loss, and improve accessibility for researchers, students, and journalists.
The DT Global delegation included Mukhtar Yusuf Osman and Muna Ahmed Omar, while the SDC team was represented by Martina and Bihawa.
