Hargeisa – (hornpost.com/) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Ciro), on Tuesday attended a state funeral held in Hargeisa for four siblings who died after their father allegedly set their family home on fire, a tragedy that has deeply shaken the country.

Also present were the Chairman of the opposition party Kulmiye, Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, alongside senior politicians, traditional elders and prominent community leaders who joined the public in mourning the children.

Speaking at the funeral, President H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Ciro), described the incident as “one of the most painful and heartbreaking events to touch the conscience of our nation.” He sent condolences to the mother of the children, their family and the people of Somaliland.

President Abdirahman Irro said “The State Will Care for the mother and Survivor” at Funeral of Four Children

Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, Chairman of the Kulmiye Party, called for unity and compassion in a brief message to mourners.

“Today is not about politics. It is about humanity, grief and justice for these innocent children. Somaliland stands together in mourning, and together we must ensure such a tragedy is never repeated,” he said.

He also praised the community response and urged the judicial system to handle the case swiftly and strongly:

“The law must speak clearly. Every child in Somaliland deserves protection, dignity and safety,” he added.

The President announced that the State will take responsibility for the care and livelihood of the surviving mother and the young child who escaped the fire. He instructed security and judicial authorities to ensure the suspect is brought to court and faces the maximum penalty provided by law.

The incident has triggered widespread public anger and renewed calls for strong action against domestic violence. Authorities have opened a criminal investigation, with community leaders urging calm and respect for the legal process.
