
NAIROBI (Horn post) — Dr. Yusuf Mohamed, chairman of the Somaliland Medical Association, participated in a major international conference focused on advancing healthcare systems across Africa and expanding access to affordable, high-quality services.
The three-day summit, held at the United Nations Office at Nairobi in Nairobi, brought together more than 2,000 delegates from around the world, including African health ministers, global health agencies, and private-sector stakeholders.
High-Level Participation
The event featured representatives from leading international organizations, including the World Health Organization, Africa CDC, UNICEF, UNFPA, and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, alongside insurers, universities, and hospital networks.
The conference was officially held by William Samoei Ruto and Zainab Hawa Bangura.
Focus on Health System Reform
Held under the theme *“Reimagining Africa’s Health Systems: Innovation, Integration, and Solidarity, the summit centered on strengthening healthcare delivery across the continent.
Key discussions focused on increasing African leadership and financing of national health systems, while accelerating progress toward Sustainable Development Goal 3 and achieving Universal Health Coverage by 2030.
African-Led Solutions
Health ministers from 25 African countries outlined major challenges and proposed solutions to improve healthcare access, emphasizing innovation, regional cooperation, and shared responsibility.
