HARGEISA, Somaliland (Horn post) Somaliland’s National Insurance Authority has held a high-level consultative meeting with independent media leaders as part of preparations to launch a nationwide insurance awareness campaign.
The meeting, led by Insurance Authority Chairman Ahmed Hirsi Duale, brought together senior officials from the agency and prominent journalists, including Somaliland Journalists Association (SOLJA) Chairman Shafici Mohamed Ibrahim and other top veteran journalists based in Hargeisa.
Discussions focused on the rollout of a national program aimed at increasing public understanding of insurance services and their role in protecting lives, property and economic stability.
Media representatives welcomed the consultative approach, emphasizing that insurance is a critical sector for national development and public welfare. They underscored the importance of strategic communication and public education to improve uptake across Somaliland.
SOLJA leadership also presented recommendations to strengthen outreach efforts and support effective implementation of insurance services. The proposals were positively received by the Insurance Authority.
Participants agreed to convene a broader national forum to officially launch the awareness campaign and build coordinated partnerships between the Insurance Authority, media institutions and the wider public.
The initiative reflects Somaliland’s growing focus on expanding financial services and strengthening institutional frameworks to support economic resilience.
