Somaliland Foreign Minister Receives Warm Welcome in Hargeisa After Overseas Diplomatic Mission.
Hargeisa (Horn post) The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Dahir Aden (Bakaal), was warmly received on Thursday at Egal International Airport in Hargeisa following his return from an official overseas working visit.
The Foreign Minister was welcomed by a delegation comprising traditional leaders, members of the House of Representatives, senior political figures, and the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, along with other senior ministry officials.
Mr. Abdirahman Dahir Aden has recently earned the public nickname “the Recognition Minister”, following Somaliland’s landmark diplomatic breakthrough during his tenure, most notably Israel’s recognition of Somaliland. He is widely regarded as the second most credited figure in this achievement, after President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro), who led the national effort at the highest level.
Ministry Statement on Minister’s Return:
In a brief statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry confirmed the Minister’s safe return and outlined the purpose of his mission abroad.
“The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Dahir Aden (Bakal), returned to the country today after concluding an official working visit abroad,” the statement said.
The Ministry added that the Minister was formally received at Egal International Airport by the Director General of the Ministry, Mr. Mohamed Abdirahman Hassan, senior ministry officials, and other dignitaries.
According to the statement, the overseas mission focused on strengthening Somaliland’s diplomatic engagement and advancing international cooperation, with particular emphasis on foreign relations and global partnerships.
“The Minister’s working visit was linked to diplomatic engagements and efforts aimed at enhancing Somaliland’s international cooperation and foreign relations,” the Ministry noted.
Growing Diplomatic Momentum
The Minister’s return comes amid heightened diplomatic momentum for Somaliland, as the government continues to pursue international recognition, expand bilateral relations, and position Somaliland as a stable and reliable partner in the Horn of Africa.
Observers note that Somaliland’s recent diplomatic gains reflect sustained engagement at both presidential and ministerial levels, reinforcing its long-standing case for statehood on the international stage.
