According to a statement issued by Somalia’s Ministry of Public Works, the meeting took place at the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure headquarters and was attended by senior officials and advisers from both governments.
The discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in key sectors including reconstruction, economic infrastructure, road development, modern housing, urban planning and building quality assurance.
Turkish Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu welcomed the Somali delegation and reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s development and reconstruction efforts.
Somalia’s Public Works Minister Ayub Ismail Yusuf highlighted the importance of Turkey’s engineering expertise and experience in managing major infrastructure projects. Following the meeting, Minister Ayub visited several institutions under Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, where he received briefings on major road and transport projects being implemented across the country.
The Somalian delegation also toured highways developed under Turkey’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, in which private companies finance road construction while tolls are collected through an electronic payment system.
In addition, the minister visited a government vehicle maintenance center and was briefed on modern systems used for managing and servicing state-owned vehicles.
At the conclusion of the talks, both sides agreed to establish a joint technical committee to advance cooperation and accelerate future partnership projects between the two ministries.
