Tangier, Morocco – (Hornpost) Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamza Abdi Barre, delivered a wide-ranging address at the closing session of the MEDays International Forum in the Kingdom of Morocco, highlighting the importance of connectivity and cooperation among countries of the Global South.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Hamza underscored that Somalia is entering “a new chapter” in its modern history, restoring its international standing and regaining the recognition and respect it once held on to the global stage. He emphasized that Somalia today is a country who’s political and security stability can be relied upon, noting the ongoing reforms and reconstruction efforts underway across the nation.
The Prime Minister stated:
“We have not come here seeking charity. We are here seeking partnership—ready to exchange ideas, share perspectives, and contribute to lasting solutions.”
He further stressed that Africa can no longer remain a spectator in global affairs, insisting that the continent must play an active role in shaping international strategic and developmental agendas.
The MEDays Forum, which ran for four days this year, concluded with Somalia taking on an especially prominent and influential role. The event provided Somalia with a wide range of diplomatic and economic opportunities, advancing both its short-term and long-term national interests.
