BERBERA (Hornpost) – Director Generals of Somaliland ministries on Thursday evening held a public forum in Berbera, the capital of Sahil region, where local residents raised a wide range of questions concerning public services.
The meeting, held at the Berbera Public Library, was attended by the Mayor of Berbera, Abdishakur Mahmoud Hassan (Ciddin), and Sahil Regional Governor, Mohamed Abdalle Gaafane. Both officials welcomed the initiative, stressing its importance in strengthening communication between citizens and government institutions.
Director General of the Ministry of Communications and Postal Services, Ahmed Arab ise, said President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi had instructed ministry director generals to directly engage the public and provide clarifications on issues surrounding government services in towns across the country. He added that the director generals would tour all major cities collectively to ensure people’s concerns are addressed.
For his part, Director General of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Awareness, Abdisalan Mahmoud Ducale (Ilkacase), stated that his ministry is working to enhance service delivery across Somaliland’s regions. He noted that the ministry conducts annual field assessments to evaluate the performance of its regional coordinators, documenting resources and equipment, while also pledging to strengthen information services in the regions.
During the event, Berbera residents posed tough and direct questions to the director generals. The officials responded on the spot, providing detailed answers, with youth participants in particular raising pointed concerns on local service delivery.
