JERUSALEM (Horn post) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel has made significant military and strategic gains in its ongoing confrontation with Iran and allied groups, while acknowledging mounting human and security costs.
In a televised address on the eve of the Jewish holiday of Passover, Netanyahu described Israel as “stronger than ever,” citing what he called major achievements in a joint campaign with the United States against Iran and its regional allies.
The prime minister said the military operations, which he referred to as part of a broader “War of Redemption,” had weakened Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities, disrupted its regional networks, and shifted the strategic balance in the Middle East. He also pointed to closer coordination with Washington and emerging regional partnerships as key outcomes.
Netanyahu framed the campaign as a response to what he described as long-standing threats from Iran, including support for armed groups and efforts to develop advanced weapons. He claimed Israeli actions had significantly degraded those capabilities and reduced the immediate risk posed to Israeli cities.
At the same time, Netanyahu acknowledged recent casualties, saying four Israeli soldiers were killed in the latest fighting. He expressed condolences to their families and praised the resilience of Israeli society and the armed forces.
The prime minister said Israel had established expanded security zones beyond its borders, including in Gaza, southern Lebanon, and parts of Syria, aimed at preventing attacks and reducing threats along its frontiers. He added that Israel’s air defense systems and military readiness had been tested and strengthened during the conflict.
Netanyahu emphasized that the campaign is ongoing and warned that regional tensions remain high. He said Israel would continue military operations while pursuing its stated objectives of weakening hostile forces and ensuring long-term national security.
He also highlighted the importance of maintaining domestic unity and economic resilience during wartime, noting that Israel’s economy continues to function despite the prolonged conflict.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions across the Middle East, with continued exchanges involving Iran-aligned groups and growing international concern over the risk of wider regional escalation.
