
DJIBOUTI CITY, Djibouti (Horn post) Kenya’s Health Minister Aden Duale led a high-level government delegation on behalf of President William Ruto to Djibouti on Monday for the inauguration of President Ismail Omar Guelleh, who has begun a sixth term in office after securing 97.81% of the vote in the April election.
The ceremony underscored continued diplomatic engagement between Nairobi and Djibouti, with both countries emphasizing shared strategic interests in regional stability, peacebuilding, and economic cooperation across the Horn of Africa.
Upon arrival, the Kenyan delegation was received by Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abdoulkader Houssein Omar, alongside Kenyan Ambassador to Djibouti George N. Macgoye and Djibouti Minister for Decentralization Kassim Haroun Ali.
Minister Duale was accompanied by Bura MP Yakub Adow and Nominated MP Abdisirat Khalif as part of the official Kenyan delegation.
Officials from both countries reaffirmed longstanding bilateral relations, highlighting cooperation in trade, maritime security, and regional integration initiatives within the Horn of Africa.
