DJIBOUTI CITY, Djibouti (Horn post) The President of the Republic of Djibouti Ismail Omar Guelleh was officially inaugurated for a new presidential term during a ceremony in Djibouti City attended by regional leaders, diplomats and senior government officials from across Africa and the Middle East.
Among the high-profile leaders were attending the inauguration Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Salva Kiir Mayardit and Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia, Somalia and South Sudan, reflecting Djibouti’s growing diplomatic and strategic importance in the Horn of Africa.
The ceremony highlighted Djibouti’s central role in regional security, economic cooperation and maritime trade, with officials emphasizing stability, infrastructure development and stronger regional integration.
Speaking during the event, President Guelleh reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to economic growth, regional connectivity and maintaining Djibouti’s position as a major logistics and trade hub linking Africa, the Middle East and international shipping routes.
Djibouti remains one of the Horn of Africa’s most strategically important countries due to its location along the Red Sea and its hosting of several foreign military bases operated by international powers.
