Kenyan President William Ruto has congratulated Arsenal F.C. after the London club secured the 2025-26 English Premier League title, ending a 22-year wait for the championship.
President Ruto, a well-known Arsenal supporter, praised the club’s resilience, discipline, and determination following the historic title-winning campaign.
“It has been quite an experience to follow Arsenal Football Club’s epic adventure, from times of struggle and crushing setback, to successive seasons of recovery and resurgence on their glorious path to the summit of the English Premier League,” Ruto said in a congratulatory message.
The Kenyan leader described Arsenal’s triumph as a reflection of hard work, teamwork, and persistence throughout the season against strong competition.
“Tonight, the great reward is won. The team is victorious. Its faith and dedication is vindicated. And our commitment to succeed through work, discipline and teamwork is affirmed. Congratulations to the Gunners,” he added.
Arsenal were crowned Premier League champions after rivals Manchester City F.C. dropped points in a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth, sealing Arsenal’s first league title since 2004 under manager Mikel Arteta.
Ruto has frequently expressed his support for Arsenal during public speeches and events in Kenya, making him one of Africa’s most prominent football-supporting political leaders.
Several African leaders, politicians, celebrities, and football fans across the world also congratulated Arsenal following the club’s Premier League success, which sparked celebrations among supporters globally.
