Jigjiga (Hornpost) – The Peace Committee of the Republic of Somaliland held an important meeting with the General Chief of the Gadabursi community in Jigjiga the capital of Ethiopian Somali regional government.
In a press release issued by the Jigjiga city Committee, they discussed the meeting
“The Peace Committee of the Republic of Somaliland held an important meeting with the Chief of the Gadabursi community in Jigjiga of Ethiopian Somali regional government.
The Peace Committee of the Republic of Somaliland held an important meeting in Jigjiga with the General Chief of the Gadabursi community, Ugas Abdirashid Ugas Roble Ugas Doodi.
This meeting was focused on how to strengthen peace, consensus, and harmony between the people of Somaliland and neighboring countries.
During the meeting, the Peace Committee conveyed to the President a salute from the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Iro). The committee thanked Ugasa for the important role of the Gadabursi community in strengthening the unity and peace of the country.
For his part, Ugas Abdirashid Ugas Roble Ugas Doodi warmly welcomed the committee, promising full support to the Gadabursi community for the peace and stability of the country. The chief said that Somaliland is his home and is open to him whenever he wants; stressing that he will play a prominent role in efforts to strengthen regional peace and social reconciliation.
Also, the Chief instructed the committee to greet the new President of the Republic of Somaliland and his government, showing full confidence in the new government headed by Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Iro).
This meeting is part of the ongoing plan of the Somaliland Peace Committee to strengthen dialogue, mutual understanding, and lasting peace that will be the basis for the development and unity of the Somaliland nation.

- The Peace Committee of the Republic of Somaliland has been appointed by the President of Somaliland Md. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi to work for peace in the eastern regions of Somaliland; especially the conflict caused by the Lasa’anod War in 2023 and consists of 7 members: Abdilqadir Haji Ismail Jirde – Chairman of the Peace Committee, Jama Ahmed Mohamed (Odey)-Vice Chairman of the Peace Committee, Hassan Ahmed Ibrahim (Embassy), Ali Saeed Raygal Mohamed, Jama Abgaal, Shuayb Mohamed Muse,Mohamed Id Dhimbil.
- Gadabursi clan is mostly living Awdal region in Somaliland, and also lives Somali region of Ethiopia and Djibouti.
- Ugas is a cultural, clan leader works to promote peace and unity in the community, Ugas Abdirashid Ugas Roble Ugas Doodi is cultural clan leader of Gudabirsi Community.
