Puntland President Deni Appoints New Cabinet Members in Government Reshuffle.

GAROWE (Horn post) Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has appointed a new group of cabinet members as part of a government reshuffle, according to a presidential decree issued on Tuesday.

 

The decree, identified as Presidential Order No. 001, names several ministers, deputy ministers, and state ministers across key government portfolios, signaling an effort to strengthen governance and administrative performance in the semi-autonomous region of northeastern Somalia.

 

Among those appointed are Abdirashid Barkhadle Warsame as Minister of Justice and Religious Affairs, Cabdi Hirsi Ali Qarjab as Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Democratization, and Mohamed Abdirahman Faroole as Minister of Health. Barre Yusuf Fatax was named Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, while Abdifatah Ugas Yasin will head the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Airports.

 

Other notable appointments include Hodon Said Hassan as Minister of Women and Family Affairs, Farhan Ali Hirsi as Minister of Information and Communications, and Said Ali Jama Qorsheel as Minister of Livestock and Rangeland. Additional portfolios such as Environment and Climate Change, Fisheries and Marine Resources, Humanitarian Affairs, Agriculture and Irrigation, and Youth, Sports and Tourism were also filled under the new decree.

 

The president also appointed a wide range of deputy ministers to support the implementation of government policies across sectors including finance, security, education, health, ports, energy, and agriculture.

 

In addition, several state ministers were named to oversee specialized areas such as federal affairs, diaspora engagement, public works, economic planning, and investment promotion.

 

The presidency stated that the decree takes immediate effect following its signing by President Deni. The appointments are expected to play a key role in advancing Puntland’s governance priorities, including service delivery, economic development, and institutional reform.
