HARGEISA – (Hornpost) Senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development of the Republic of Somaliland today appeared before the Economic, Finance and Trade Committee of the House of Representatives to brief lawmakers on the proposed national budget for the 2026 fiscal year.
The delegation was led by the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Hon. Abdillahi Hassan Aden, accompanied by the Director General of the Ministry, Hon. Mohamed Hassan Saleban, the Accountant General of the Government, Hon. Hassan Muse Khaliif, along with several departmental directors from the Ministry.
The meeting aimed to provide the parliamentary committee with a comprehensive briefing on the Government’s 2026 budget projections, which are currently under review by the House of Representatives ahead of deliberation and approval.
During the session, the Minister, the Director General, the Accountant General, and departmental directors responded to questions from committee members concerning budget management procedures, expenditure prioritization, and revenue forecasts for the 2026 fiscal year.
In conclusion, the Economic, Finance and Trade Committee of the House of Representatives commended the Ministry of Finance for the preparation and presentation of detailed budgetary data, emphasizing the importance of close cooperation between executive institutions and the legislative branch to ensure the adoption of a national budget that serves the broader interests of the country.
