Hargeisa – (Hornpost) Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro) on Tuesday announced a sweeping overhaul of regional administrations, appointing new governors to key regions and dismissing several incumbents in a significant early-term restructuring move.
According to the presidential decree, issued under Article 90 of the Somaliland Constitution and following consultations and assessments of competence and experience, the President approved the following appointments with immediate effect:
Abdirashid Hassan Matan as Governor of Awdal
Abdiqani Mohamoud Ateye Farid as Governor of Sahil
Mohamoud Rage Ibrahin Guled as Governor of Sanaag
Abdirahman Mohamed Abdi (Herer) as Governor of Daadmadheedh
Abdi Saed Fahiye Allale, former Governor of Salal, appointed as a Member of the National Higher Education Committee
Prof. Ahmed Abdillahi Mohamed (Dhegayare), former Governor of Sarar, appointed as Governor of Salal.
Abdirahim Mohamed Ahmed, former Governor of Daadmadheedh, appointed as Governor of Sarar.
The President also ended their Tenure three regional governors
In a separate decree, President Cirro also relieved three regional governors of their duties, formally ending their tenure. Those dismissed include:
Mohamoud Hassan Jama (Xoday) – Former Governor of Awdal
Mohamed Dahir Abdalla Gaafane – Former Governor of Sahil
Ahmed Abdi Muse – Former Governor of Sanaag.
President Cirro Replaces Governors in Awdal, Sahil and Sanag:
The Presidency did not elaborate on the reasons for the removals, but the reshuffle is widely viewed as part of President Cirro’s broader effort to strengthen regional governance, improve administrative performance, and align local leadership with his administration’s priorities.
The decrees were signed by President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro) and take effect immediately.
