Hargeisa (Hornpost) The Ministry of Minerals and Energy of the Republic of Somaliland has intensified preparations for the upcoming National Mining Exhibition, a flagship event set to take place in Hargeisa and expected to draw both domestic investors and international mining stakeholders.
During the ministry’s weekly leadership meeting held today in Hargeisa, officials reviewed progress on the logistical and technical arrangements for the event, which aims to showcase Somaliland’s mineral potential, attract foreign investment, and strengthen partnerships with global mining companies.
The meeting was chaired by the Director-General of the Ministry, Dr. Shoib Osman Mohamoud, with all departmental directors in attendance. Discussions focused on sector presentations, exhibitor coordination, security and protocol arrangements, and strategies to ensure the exhibition becomes a landmark platform for promoting Somaliland’s natural resource opportunities.
According to ministry officials, invitations have been extended to local business leaders, mining companies, exploration firms, and prospective foreign investors.
The exhibition is designed to provide a space where stakeholders can engage directly with government experts, assess geological data, and explore investment pathways in Somaliland’s emerging extractive sector.
The annual mining expo is part of the government’s broader agenda to modernize the energy and minerals sector, support economic diversification, and position Somaliland as a competitive destination for responsible resource development in the Horn of Africa.
