Somalia Welcomes New Ambassadors from Eight Nations across Europe, Africa, Asia and north America in Diplomatic Ceremony.

Mogadishu, (Hornpost) – In a significant diplomatic event, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia received the letters of credence from ambassadors representing eight nations, including Egypt, Indonesia, Sweden, Cuba, Canada, Finland, Norway, and Spain.

This ceremony at the National Presidential Palace underlines Somalia’s commitment to strengthening international relations and enhancing its diplomatic presence on the global stage.

During the ceremony, President Mohamud extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly appointed ambassadors, expressing optimism for the future of Somalia’s diplomatic engagements. “The Somalia government and its people warmly welcome you and stand ready to support your endeavors in fulfilling your diplomatic mandates,” he stated. “Our foremost aim is to strengthen bilateral cooperation and foster meaningful partnerships.”

The ambassadors, who presented their credentials to the President, conveyed messages of goodwill from their respective governments. Ambassador Mohamed Salah Keshtah of Egypt emphasized the historical ties between Somalia and Egypt, noting, “Our relationship is built on mutual respect and shared interests, and we look forward to enhancing our cooperation across various sectors.”

Meanwhile, Ambassador Witjaksono Adji of Indonesia highlighted his country’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s development goals, stating, “We are eager to work alongside the Somali government to promote sustainable economic growth and social development.”

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries and military personnel from the Somali National Armed Forces, which added a formal touch to the event as they honored the ambassadors with a salute. The presence of security forces signifies the importance Somalia places on international diplomacy and the security partnership with these nations.

The newly appointed ambassadors expressed gratitude for the warm reception they received at Villa Somalia. Ambassador Inés Fors Fernandez of Cuba remarked, “We are delighted to be here and committed to fostering a relationship that benefits both our nations, Somalia holds a special place in our foreign policy agenda.”
