Dusmareb (Hornpost) The Appeal Court of Galgaduud Region in Somalia has handed down death sentences to Abdi Osman Abdullaahi and Gallad Ahmed Hussien, after finding them responsible for the killing of a mother and her young daughter. A third defendant, Ayub Mohamed Abdi, received a five-year prison sentence for his role in the case.
According to court records, the incident occurred in the Qayib area of Galgaduud.
The two main defendants were convicted of carrying out the killings, while the third individual was found to have been involved in a lesser capacity.
The Appeal Court stated that the ruling came after reviewing evidence and hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defense.
The judgment is considered one of the region’s most serious recent cases involving violence against civilians.
Local authorities say the verdict aims to reinforce accountability and uphold justice for the victims and their families.
