Nairobi – (Hornpost) The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), who is currently in Nairobi, held a meeting with his Kenyan counterpart, Moses M. Wetang’ula.
At the start of the meeting, the Speaker of the Kenyan Parliament congratulated Speaker Madobe on his leadership of the East African Community (EAC) Forum of Speakers, Somalia’s selection of representatives to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), and the active role Somalia continues to play within the regional bloc.
Speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe) extended condolences to the Kenyan Speaker following the death of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga. He also officially invited Speaker Wetang’ula to attend the EAC Speakers’ Conference, which Somalia will host in May 2026.
The meeting focused on key areas of cooperation, including:
- Establishing a parliamentary friendship committee between the two countries.
- Facilitating exchange programmed for MPs from both parliaments.
- Strengthening overall inter-parliamentary collaboration and coordination.
The session was attended by the Secretary-General of Somalia’s House of the People, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdulle (Jabiri), Somalia’s Ambassador to Kenya, Jibril Ibrahim Abdulle, and the Director-General of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Yusuf Hassan.
