Erigavo (Hornpost) – The Minister of Interior and Security of the Republic of Somaliland held a high-level meeting at the Sanag Regional Administration Headquarters with members of the Sanag Regional Peace and Security Committee.
The meeting was attended by the Governor of Sanag Region, the Commander of the Somaliland Police Force, as well as senior regional administrators and security officials. The discussions focused on the current security situation in the region and the ongoing preparations for the upcoming Sanag Peace Conference scheduled to be officially opened tomorrow by H.E. President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi (Cirro) in the city of Erigavo.
Following the meeting, the Ministry of Interior announced new temporary security measures to ensure public safety and smooth organization of the peace conference. Among the key directives, the government declared that vehicular movement across the region will be suspended from 6:00 p.m. each evening for the duration of the peace conference.
According to the Ministry, the decision aims to maintain stability, order, and the safety of participants and residents during the event, which brings together community elders, local leaders, and national officials to strengthen peace and reconciliation efforts in the region.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed the government’s commitment to preserving peace and stability across Somaliland and called on residents of Sanag Region to fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies in implementing the temporary restrictions and supporting the national peace process.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Somaliland Police Force, Lieutenant General Abdirahman Abdillahi Hassan Abdi Dhere, and officers from various armed forces in the region accompanied the minister to the Sanag Regional Security Committee Conference.
