MOGADISHU, Somalia — (Horn post) The Turkish oil rig Çağrı Bey arrived at the port of Mogadishu early Thursday, marking a key step in Somalia’s energy exploration efforts. The vessel departed from Turkey and is set to begin operations along Somalia’s coastline.
According to the Somali National Television, national officials are expected to attend a welcoming ceremony at the port, alongside other support vessels accompanying the rig. The Çağrı Bey is scheduled to head toward the Galmudug region early next week, where preliminary surveys have been conducted to accelerate oil production.
