Somaliland’s KAAH Delegation Holds Talks with Belgium’s Green Party Leaders.
Bresules (Hornpost) The Chairman of Somaliland’s KAAH Party, Mr. Mahmoud Hashi Abdi, and a delegation he leads — currently touring European countries — have in recent days been in Brussels, the capital of Belgium and the seat of the European Union.
Today, the delegation held meetings with several Members of the European Parliament.
In a written statement, Chairman Hashi said:
“As a delegation, we paid an official visit today to the headquarters of the Belgian Parliament, where we held a productive discussion with senior leaders of the opposition Green Party, including the party’s Chairperson and the woman heading the party’s parliamentary group in the Belgian Parliament.
During the meeting, we had an in-depth exchange on the historical and political ties between our two nations, the progress of democracy, and the shared political visions of our two parties. We discussed at length issues related to advancing social justice, strengthening democracy, protecting the environment, and combating climate change — all of which are core principles that the KAAH Party also firmly upholds.
The KAAH Party believes in preserving environmental integrity, preventing deforestation, and mitigating the ecological risks our communities face. Both parties explored potential areas of close cooperation and agreed to pursue mutual learning and collaboration to realize our shared political ideals.

After the success of Somaliland’s recent political associations and presidential elections, politician Mahmoud Hashi Abdi, who leads the KAAH Party, emerged as one of the recognized national party leaders. During that period, he formed an opposition alliance with the party of President-elect Abdirahman Cirro.
Mr. Hashi — a veteran politician with significant influence on Somaliland’s political landscape — has long played a central role in key decisions of the House of Representatives through a parliamentary bloc allied to him. He is currently engaged in strengthening the connection between KAAH supporters across Europe, particularly among the Somaliland diaspora communities in France and Belgium, countries he has recently visited as part of his ongoing European tour.
