Nairobi, Kenya (Hornpost) Somaliland’s top development officials convened with international partners in Nairobi for the High-Level Development Coordination Forum (HLDCF), the country’s highest platform for aligning national priorities with global support.
The meeting was chaired by Somaliland’s Minister of Planning and National Development, Kaltun Sheikh Hassan Abdi, who led a high-level delegation that included the Minister of Finance Development, the President’s Economic Advisor, the Director General of the Planning Ministry, Somaliland’s Ambassador to Kenya, and technical representatives from key government institutions.
The forum brought together a wide range of international partners, including representatives from EU member states, the United States, the United Nations, the European Union, the World Bank, and the African Development Bank.
During the session, the Somaliland delegation presented this year’s development achievements and briefed partners on the country’s drought data, humanitarian needs, and priority areas outlined in the National Development Plan.
The forum also highlighted major investment opportunities and Somaliland’s natural resource potential—covering agriculture, fisheries, livestock, minerals, and renewable energy—sectors considered vital for economic growth and job creation.
HLDCF served as a platform to strengthen international cooperation, agree on shared priorities, and enhance Somaliland’s planning systems. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to jointly design and implement development programs that advance stability and long-term growth.
The meeting concluded with a renewed call to bolster global partnerships and reinforce development frameworks that support Somaliland’s aspirations.
