HARGEISA (Hornpost) — The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), has issued a decree effecting a reshuffle of regional governors and their deputies.
According to the presidential directive, the following changes are effective immediately:
Mohamed Abdillahi Jama (Bookh), former Governor of Gabiley, has been appointed as the new Governor of Hawd.
Mahmud Hassan Saleeban (Doob), former Governor of Hawd, will assume the role of Governor of Gabiley.
Mohamed Dayib Yusuf Adan, former Deputy Governor of Daad-madheedh, has been appointed Deputy Governor of Hawd.
Ayanle Mahmoud Raage Qaalib, formerly Deputy Governor of Hawd, will serve as Deputy Governor of Daad-madheedh.
Reports indicate that Mohamed Abdillahi Jama (Bookh)’s transfer comes amid local tensions in Gabiley, where elders opposing a major development project linked to the Wajaale Bank and funded by the Pharo Foundation reportedly faced government detention. The $22 million project has drawn mixed reactions from the local population, with some community members expressing strong opposition.
