Hargeisa (Horn post) Major General Abdi Ahmed Tiir, Deputy Commander of the Somaliland Police Force, conducted an official inspection this morning of the police training and readiness exercises in preparation for the upcoming national celebrations on May 18, 2026. The event is expected to be commemorated with nationwide ceremonies.
During the visit, Major General Tiir reviewed the progress of training programs, assessed the preparation of police units, and evaluated the quality of performances and demonstrations planned for the National Day events.
He received briefings from senior officers overseeing the training operations and praised the commitment, discipline, and professionalism demonstrated by the personnel involved.
Authorities emphasized that the early preparation and rigorous training underscored Somaliland Police’s dedication to ensuring a well-coordinated and highly organized celebration across the country.
The May 18 celebrations mark Somaliland’s National Day, commemorating the region’s declaration of independence, and are traditionally observed with parades, ceremonial displays, and public events nationwide.
