Hargeisa (Horn post) A high-level delegation from the Somaliland government has arrived in Geerisa district in the Selel region as part of ongoing efforts to de-escalate recurring conflict in the western parts of the country.
The delegation includes the Ministers of Transport and Road Development, Defense, and Youth and Sports, along with the Third Deputy Commissioner of the Somaliland Police Force.
Officials from the Selel regional administration, led by the governor, welcomed the delegation upon their arrival, underscoring the significance of the visit in addressing local security concerns.
According to government sources, the delegation is expected to engage in mediation efforts aimed at calming tensions and facilitating dialogue between communities affected by intermittent clashes that have persisted in recent months.
The western regions of Somaliland have experienced periodic instability, prompting authorities to intensify interventions focused on conflict resolution and community reconciliation.
The visit signals the government’s continued commitment to restoring stability and strengthening peace-building initiatives in areas impacted by unrest.
