
NEW DELHI, India (Horn post) Several Somali nationals who had traveled to India for medical treatment were reportedly among those affected by a deadly hotel fire, according to preliminary reports.
The victims were said to be staying at the hotel while undergoing medical consultations and treatment with healthcare specialists in India, a destination frequently chosen by Somali patients seeking advanced medical care.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire and are working to determine the full extent of the casualties and injuries. Emergency responders were deployed to the scene to assist those trapped inside the building and provide medical support to survivors.
Officials have not yet released a complete list of victims, while efforts are underway to notify families and coordinate assistance for those affected.
The incident has raised concerns about hotel safety standards and emergency preparedness for foreign patients and visitors staying in accommodation facilities near major medical centers in India.
