“The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Federal Government of Somalia is officially announcing the end of the first phase of oil and mineral exploration in some of the coasts of Somalia, which has confirmed that these resources will be used efficiently, fairly and effectively for the economic growth of the country and the livelihood of the Somali people.
Therefore, while carrying out legal duties and working under the policy of the Government of National Interest, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has entered into joint production agreements with the Turkish Petroleum Company (TPAO) which started oil exploration and exploration in the Somali Sea on October 21. 2024 with an investigation carried out by the Oruçe Reis Seismic Research Vessel.
The investigation and exploration of oil lasted for 234 days as the Turkish Petroleum Company collected a lot of information about the coast of Somalia, oil information that will be studied to find out the fuel and the amount of fuel in the exploration areas.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources XFS is today, June 15, 2025, officially announcing the end of the first phase of oil exploration conducted by the Turkish Petroleum Company (TPAO). The ministry will share with the Somali people the next results collected when the first accurate information comes out.
