Aswan, Egypt (Hornpost)– The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, today delivered an important address at the 5th Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development in Africa, held in the city of Aswan, Arab Republic of Egypt, under the theme “Africa’s Power for Development and Transformation in the Modern World.”
In his speech, the Prime Minister stated that Somalia has embarked on a path toward sustainable progress, successfully overcoming years of security, economic, and political challenges.
He highlighted the tangible achievements of his government, including:
Rebuilding state institutions and national governance structures.
Securing debt relief; Strengthening Somalia’s relations with regional and international partners.
Lifting the decades-long arms embargo; and achieving significant improvements in national security, particularly in the fight against extremist groups.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre also presented Somalia’s National Transformation Framework 2025–2030, which focuses on six key pillars:
Infrastructure reconstruction and economic foundations, Economic growth and job creation, social services development, including education and health, Food security and agricultural advancement, Environmental protection and clean energy promotion, and Governance transparency and institutional accountability.
“Somalia today is a nation that has emerged from conflict and destruction, moving steadily on the path of progress and prosperity—leaving no one behind in our collective national rebuilding efforts,” the Prime Minister said.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Government of Egypt for its continued support to Somalia, particularly in peacebuilding, reconstruction, and cooperation, underscoring that the brotherly relations between the two nations are historic and ever-strengthening.
