HARGEISA – (Hornpost) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi (Cirro), today held a national briefing meeting at the Presidential Palace with the top leadership of the country’s three political parties: Waddani, Kaah, and Kulmiye.
The high-level meeting focused on key national issues, including security and stability, the economy, foreign relations, and the upcoming elections. President Cirro shared with the party leaders an overall briefing on the current state of the nation and the general direction of government policy.
The President provided updates on his recent official visits to the United Arab Emirates and Ethiopia, describing them as strategic diplomatic missions aimed at strengthening Somaliland’s relations with both countries. He said the visits helped to deepen cooperation on security, investment, economic development, and regional affairs in the Horn of Africa.
President Cirro also underscored the importance of democracy and consultation, stating that peace, unity, and the national interest of Somaliland must always remain top priorities.
He briefed the parties on progress made in the ongoing peace and reconciliation efforts in Erigavo, noting that the dialogue and mediation process there is moving in a positive direction.
The President urged the political parties to enhance collaboration among themselves and with the government to ensure continued peace, development, and national consensus — values that have long characterized Somaliland’s political culture.
Leaders of the three parties — the ruling Waddani Party and the opposition Kaah and Kulmiye parties — welcomed the initiative, describing the meeting as a positive example of dialogue and national unity. They also expressed their support for the government on key national matters affecting Somaliland’s future.
The meeting is part of a series of consultations President Cirro has recently held with national institutions and leaders, including earlier meetings with the Speakers of the two Houses of Parliament and the Chief Justice, reflecting his administration’s focus on dialogue and national cohesion.
