Hargeisa – (Hornpost) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi “Cirro”, who is also the founder and former chairman of WADDANI Party, on Tuesday officially attended the opening ceremony of the party’s Second Central Office in Hargeisa.
The event, which was well-organized by the leadership and staff of WADDANI, took place at the new branch of the party’s headquarters. Ministers, senior government officials, political figures, women’s groups, youth, and members of the Somaliland diaspora affiliated with the party were among the guests in attendance.
In his remarks, the President thanked party supporters, particularly women, youth, and diaspora members, whom he described as the backbone of WADDANI’s political success.
The President also expressed gratitude to influential Somaliland figures who contributed to the establishment and strengthening of the party, praying for Allah’s mercy on those who have passed away.
President Cirro stated that the new office symbolizes the future growth and aspirations of WADDANI, stressing that the party remains committed to peace, unity, democracy, justice, and public service across Somaliland.
He emphasized the importance of national unity and sovereignty, noting that WADDANI has played a key role in advancing democracy, stability, and state-building in the country.
The President further announced that the political principles and direction of the current government are fully aligned with the official program of the WADDANI Party, which he described as the guiding framework for the country’s governance and development agenda.
He reiterated that the ruling party and the government are not separate entities, but two pillars working toward a common goal: advancing national development, protecting peace and unity, and building an efficient system of governance that serves citizens.
President Cirro instructed ministers and government appointees to work closely with the party leadership and operate with accountability, urging officials to “hold themselves accountable before they are held accountable.”
Other senior party leaders, including the Chairman, deputy chairpersons, ministers, MPs, and distinguished members of WADDANI—both men and women—also delivered speeches during the ceremony.
In closing, the President praised the party leadership for their continued efforts in strengthening public trust and consolidating Somaliland’s democratic political culture.
