Saylac (Hornpost) Minister of interior and security of the Republic of Somaliland Abdale Mohamed Arab today oversaw the official handover of the Salal regional governor post from outgoing Governor Abdi Saedd Fahiye to newly appointed Governor Ahmed Abdilahi Dhegayare.
The ceremony, held at the Salal administration headquarters, was attended by key officials including Youth and Sports Minister Ahmed Yasin Mohamed Farah, Defense Minister Mohamed Yusuf, Saylac’s Mayor, the Port Manager, and local elders and community leaders from Salal and Awdal.
Outgoing Governor Fahiye reviewed his tenure and achievements, urging the new governor to continue development initiatives.
Dhegayare pledged to prioritize security, community consultation, and continued progress in the region.
Minister Arab praised Fahiye for his service and advised the new governor to work closely with elders and residents to maintain peace and stability.
“The President wants to lay the foundation stone for the biggest project in Somaliland this month in Zeylac. Everything has been completed, but there will be no investment until there is peace,” the Minister of Interior said.
The event concluded peacefully, following tensions linked to a planned cultural book (Xeer Ciise) exhibition in Saylac.
