Hargeisa (August 24, 2025) – The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Maxamed Cali Aw Cabdi, today attended the First National Conference on Disability, held at Maansoor Hotel in Hargeisa.

This historic conference, the first of its kind in Somaliland, brought together disability organizations, stakeholders, and institutions working on disability rights.
In his address, the Vice President emphasized the importance of the event, describing it as a milestone that the nation should take pride in. He further assured that the government is fully committed to working closely with disability organizations.
“Today is a joy I will never forget, and I pray to Allah that this conference leads us to tangible achievements. As a government, we pledge to cooperate closely with the organization you represent, and my office will always remain open to you,” said the Vice President.
He also stressed that the Somaliland government will require public institutions and service providers to establish accessible facilities and pathways for persons with disabilities, ensuring their full inclusion and rights.
This conference is seen as an important step towards strengthening the rights of people with disabilities and guaranteeing their participation in society and national development.
