TEHRAN (Horn post) Iran has expressed readiness to end the ongoing conflict if key conditions are met, including binding guarantees to prevent future attacks, President Masoud Pezeshkian said.
The remarks were made during a conversation with European Council President Antonio Costa, according to Iran’s state news agency IRNA. The discussion focused on pathways to de-escalation amid rising regional tensions.
Pezeshkian stated that Iran possesses the “necessary will” to bring the fighting to an end but emphasized that any resolution must include firm assurances against renewed aggression.
“At this time, we did not seek escalation or war,” the president said, adding that “the solution to the current situation lies in ending their aggressive attacks.”
He stressed that durable peace would depend on credible guarantees ensuring Iran’s security and preventing future military actions.
The comments come as diplomatic efforts intensify to contain the conflict and explore negotiated solutions, with international actors increasingly calling for restraint and dialogue.
Analysts say Iran’s position reflects a conditional openness to de-escalation, while maintaining demands for long-term security assurances as part of any agreement.
