
WAJAALE, Somaliland (Horn post) Two people, including a 7-month-old baby and an 18-year-old boy, died in a house fire that broke out in a residential area of Wajaale town, authorities said.
The fire, which erupted in a home in one of the town’s neighborhoods, spread rapidly before firefighters were able to bring it under control, according to the Wajaale Fire and Rescue Service and local district officials.
Emergency responders said they recovered the bodies and transferred them to Wajaale General Hospital.
Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze, but the cause of the fire remains unknown.
Security officials, including criminal investigators, said they have launched an inquiry to determine what triggered the fire that led to the two fatalities.
