Addis Ababa (Hornpost) — The 9th session of the Ethiopia–Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Trade Cooperation concluded in Addis Ababa with the signing of key bilateral agreements.
The meeting ended with the adoption of the agreed minutes and the signing of two major documents — the Results of Bilateral Negotiations on Ethiopia’s Accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and a Protocol on the Extension of Scientific and Technological Cooperation, originally signed for the 2013–2017 period.
Ethiopia’s Minister of Innovation and Technology, Belete Molla, who co-chairs the Commission, signed the documents on behalf of the Ethiopian government. Senior officials including Bruk Taye, CEO of Ethiopian Investment Holdings, Engineer Takele Uma, CEO of the Ethio–Djibouti Railway Share Company, and Engineer Hilina Belachew, CEO of the Ethiopian Railway Corporation, were present.
The two sides reviewed progress made since the 8th Joint Commission meeting held on December 8, 2022, and issued recommendations to strengthen the implementation of previous commitments. The agreed minutes covered a broad spectrum of cooperation — from economic and financial collaboration to energy, technology, and transport — aimed at deepening bilateral ties.
Both parties also agreed to convene the 10th Session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission in Ethiopia in 2026.
