Djibouti and Somalia Presidents Arrive in Egypt for Grand Museum Opening

Cairo – (Hornpost) Presidents of Djibouti and Somalia have arrived in Egypt to attend the official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, one of the largest cultural projects in the region.

President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh of Djibouti landed in Cairo following an official invitation from his Egyptian counterpart. He is expected to join other regional leaders at the ceremony, which marks the reopening of the National Museum of Culture and Egyptian Civilization.

Somalia’s President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, also received a warm reception upon arrival in the Egyptian capital. According to officials, the President will use the visit to strengthen the longstanding historic and cultural ties between the peoples of Somalia and Egypt.

The Grand Egyptian Museum, located on the outskirts of Cairo, spans more than 500,000 square meters and houses over 100,000 ancient artifacts representing more than 7,000 years of Egyptian history. After extensive renovation, the museum officially opens today, Saturday, November 1.

The event has drawn a wide range of world leaders, historians, and cultural experts, as Egypt positions the museum as a major global hub for archaeology, history, and tourism.
