Casablanca (Morocco), (Hornpost) – A delegation from Djibouti has been participating since Wednesday at the African Forum on Administrative Data, organized in Casablanca from July 9 to 11, with the aim of promoting a better use of public data in the service of sustainable development on the continent.
Compound of M. Ibrahim Abdi Hadi, Director General of INSTAD and Coordinator of the National Statistical System, and M. Souleiman Moumin Robleh, Secretary-General of the Ministry of the Interior, the delegation represents Djibouti at this continental meeting that brings together statisticians, ministerial officials and international partners.
The forum, under the theme “Harnessing administrative data in Africa: Decomposing data to accelerate implementation of Agendas 2063 and 2030”, highlights the importance of data produced by administrations (civil, health, education, taxation) in developing reliable statistics and accessible.
For Djibouti, this data is an essential leverage for completing and updating field survey results. “When well-structured and accessible, administrative data offers considerable potential to improve the quality and frequency of national statistics.” “They do not replace surveys, but they complete them effectively and enable quicker decision-making,” stressed M. Ibrahim Abdi Hadi, during work.
Our country has been striving for several years to strengthen interoperability between public data producers and improve statistical coverage, in a regional context marked by growing pressure to track sustainable development indicators.
This edition of the Forum is part of a continental effort to modernize African statistical systems, strengthen institutional capacities, and better align national data strategies on the priorities of the United Nations Agendas 2030 and the African Union 2063.
