Hargeisa (Hornpost) The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, who is also the Acting President, Honorable Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, has appointed an Emergency Committee in response to the major wildfire that has struck the mountainous areas of the Sanag region.
The fire, which broke out this afternoon, has rapidly spread through the forests and ancient vegetation of the area, raising serious concerns among local residents and posing a threat to the natural environment and the livelihoods of the people living there.
The Vice President announced that the newly appointed committee consists of:
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the Republic of Somaliland
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Somaliland
The Ministry of Interior and Security of the Republic of Somaliland
The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Somaliland
The National Disaster Preparedness and Food Reserve Agency of the Republic of Somaliland
The Vice President has instructed this committee to immediately reach the site of the wildfire and take urgent action.
As Acting President, he also called on the public to participate in efforts to extinguish the fire and urged both international and local organizations to quickly provide support.
