Addis Ababa (hornpost.com/) The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and Peace Affairs has been urged to strengthen the reform work that the immigration and citizenship service has started.
The standing committee has made a field observation on immigration and citizenship services.
The members of the standing committee have observed the work being done in the service of the passengers especially the preparation of travel documents, passport renewal, new passport and issuance of e-passports.
Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of Foreign Relations and Peace Affairs Fethi Mahdi (Dr) said that he has observed the changes that are being done in the institution during the field inspection.
They said that the service is doing by implementing modern technologies and developing new methods to solve malfunctions is appreciated.
They have realized that in order to provide a flexible service, they should focus on speed and continue the change works that have been started.
Fethi Mahdi (Dr.) confirmed that the standing committee will continue to support and monitor the activities the service is doing to improve its procedures.
Director General of Immigration and Citizenship Services Selamawit Dawit said that the service is making changes in order to get rid of the complex problems.
With this, they have stated that he is getting promising results.
He said he is carefully implementing activities to be more efficient in solving the problems and to expand its reach by expanding technology processes.
They also stated that they are allowing the money that was illegally entered into the pockets of individuals to enter the government treasury.
Users expressed that the service he is providing has improved and said that it should continue further.
