
HELSINKI, Finland (Horn post) The Somaliland community in Finland hosted a reception for Head of Training of the Somaliland Police Force Abdikani Isa Maygag (Ganay) during his official visit to the Nordic country, highlighting the diaspora’s growing role in supporting security sector development and international partnerships.
The event, organized by Somaliland Community Chairman Hassan Omar Hurre, brought together community leaders, professionals and members of the Somaliland diaspora to discuss police reform, capacity-building initiatives and opportunities for cooperation between Somaliland and Finnish institutions.
During the gathering, Head of Training of the Somaliland Police Force Abdikani Isa Maygag (Ganay) briefed attendees on ongoing efforts to enhance the skills, professionalism and operational capacity of the Somaliland Police Force. He emphasized the importance of international cooperation, knowledge-sharing and modern training programs in strengthening law enforcement institutions.
The police training chief also thanked the Somaliland community in Finland for its warm reception and continued support for national development initiatives.
Discussions focused on expanding police training opportunities, strengthening institutional partnerships and exploring ways in which the diaspora can contribute to the professional development and modernization of Somaliland’s security sector.
The reception was attended by Sultan Abdi Kayd Mohamed, a respected traditional leader within the Somaliland diaspora community, alongside other community representatives.
Participants highlighted the important role of Somaliland’s global diaspora in advancing national development priorities, supporting public institutions and building stronger links with international partners.
The visit reflects ongoing efforts to promote international collaboration and strengthen the capacity of Somaliland’s security institutions through training, professional development and community engagement.
