
WASHINGTON (Horn post) The United States and Ethiopia have signed a Bilateral Structured Dialogue Framework in Washington aimed at strengthening cooperation on security, trade, investment and regional stability.
The agreement was signed by Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos and U.S. Under Secretary for Political Affairs Allison Hooker.
According to officials, the framework will focus on expanding economic prosperity, boosting trade and investment ties, enhancing defense and security cooperation, and supporting peace and stability across the Horn of Africa and East Africa.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also held talks with Gedion Timothewos on strengthening the U.S.-Ethiopia security partnership, increasing commercial opportunities and Ethiopia’s role in regional conflict resolution and de-escalation efforts.
The move signals renewed diplomatic engagement between Washington and Addis Ababa amid growing geopolitical competition and security challenges in East Africa.
