HARGEISA, Somaliland (Horn post) Police in Somaliland have arrested three suspects accused of robbing two women of their mobile phones at Big Bridge in the capital, Hargeisa, authorities said.
According to the Somaliland Police Force, the arrests followed an operation supported by video evidence obtained by officers, including footage previously circulated on social media showing the alleged incident.
The suspects were apprehended by the police’s narcotics division, which has recently expanded its operations to address broader criminal activity in the city. Authorities said the three individuals will be brought promptly before judicial institutions for prosecution.
In a statement, the police urged any additional victims who may have been targeted by the suspects to report to the Central Police Station in Hargeisa to assist with ongoing investigations.
The incident, which gained attention after videos were shared online, has raised public concern over street crime in busy areas of the city, particularly around Big Bridge, one of Hargeisa’s busiest junctions.
Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining public safety and called on residents to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting crimes and providing relevant information.
