Somaliland Cabinet Warns Against Obstruction of Recognition, Issues Strong Statement on Foreign Interference.
HARGEISA, Somaliland (Horn post) The 52nd meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Somaliland, chaired by President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro) and attended by Vice President Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, was held today at the Presidential Palace in Hargeisa, where the Cabinet issued a decisive statement regarding Somaliland’s international recognition.
According to an official Presidential press release, the Cabinet addressed two key issues:
individuals attempting to block Somaliland’s recognition, and foreign countries interfering in Somaliland’s internal affairs. The government emphasized that any actions or calls aimed at obstructing Somaliland’s recognition through unrest or security threats will face legal consequences. The statement also confirmed that all forms of external interference will be responded to firmly by Somaliland authorities.
The resolutions, effective immediately, clarified that freedom of expression cannot be used as a pretext to undermine Somaliland’s recognition or sovereignty.
